Clinical Trials Training Programs

Shaping the Future of Clinical Trials in Canada

CANTRAIN is building a skilled, agile and inclusive clinical trials workforce—ready to lead, support, and transform research across the country.

We don’t just teach what to do—we focus on how to do it well. Our training blends real-world scenarios, expert insight, and a performance-first approach to ensure learners are ready for the demands of modern clinical trials.

    What Makes CANTRAIN Different?

    Competency-Based Training

Everything we do is grounded in a validated framework that builds knowledge, skills, behaviours, and sound judgement for real trial settings. Find out more about the Joint Task Force Core Competency Framework here.

    Science-Backed Learning Design

Rooted in cognitive science, our programs are built for how adults learn best—with modular courses, microlearning and practical application that sticks.

    Inclusive & Patient-Centred

We offer tailored training for patients by patients, so patient and community partners can participate to their full capacity.

    Focused on Real-World Impact

Start with the Essentials, Then Choose Your Path

While not mandatory, learners are encouraged to begin with our Regulatory Compliance Training (Division 5, GCP, TCPS 2) and the Common Core Foundation—11 essential, easy-to-follow courses that build baseline knowledge of clinical trials. These foundational courses are available through our centralized Learning Management System (LMS) and provide a strong starting point before exploring one of our four specialized learning streams. Several stream specific modules are already available and open to all learners, with new modules released regularly.

    Certification & CME Eligibility

CANTRAIN courses may be eligible for maintenance of certification credits with SOCRA and ACRP. They may also qualify for 0.5 unaccredited CME hours under the category of independent, self-directed learning activities (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) for professional development. Be sure to retain your certificates of completion for documentation.
